Peter Day B. A., M. Div.
Life Skills Facilitator

Peter Day

For the past twenty-seven years, Peter has been involved in personal, couple and family development related activities in western Canada. Having spent eleven years in life enhancement work in Calgary, AB., he recently completed ten years as a chaplain in the Canadian Armed Forces.

With an active interest in the holistic health of individuals and families, he focused his graduate studies in clinical training. Courses and supervised training in such areas as alcohol prevention/recovery, family group therapy, psychotherapy, group counselling and clinical pastoral education rounded out his Masters program.

At a Doctorate level Peter has taken studies in professional self-care and family dynamics from a systems theory approach. Additional courses and training have involved areas such as adult/child abuse, bioethics, growth counselling, marriage enrichment, alcohol rehabilitation, critical incident stress, divorce recovery and stress management.

From 1993 to 1996 he conducted stress management workshops with over 1000 military and civilian personnel at CFB Esquimalt. These programs were developed to help naval personnel cope with the high demands of operational training in the military. The Stress & You workshop was offered at the Naval Officer Training Centre to all naval officers preparing for leadership roles in the navy. It has been successfully adapted to help professionals in the business world identify and cope with personal stress in the nineties. The content of the workshop is based on the breakthrough work of Dr. Archibald Hart covered in his book "The Hidden Link between Adrenalin & Stress".

Career changes for Peter in the past thirty years have involved being an employee of a major international oil company, university student, professional sales representative, clergyman, and military officer. He currently offers workshops on stress management, communication, conflict resolution, team building, marriage enrichment and divorce recovery. After living in four major Canadian cities with the subsequent necessary adjustments, he is well acquainted with the dynamics of stress and transition.
